Hereford Prime an Aussie Day Hit in Hyde Park

By ,  Friday, January 28th, 2011

Despite the unpredictable weather, Hereford Prime was inundated with supporters in Hyde Park, Sydney this Australia Day as visitors to the Park flocked to see Hank the Hereford Bull, watch the on-stage cooking demonstrations and experience our premium beef.

The cooking demonstrations were a fantastic success with one of the four talented Sydney Executive Chefs taking to the stage every hour to prepare delicious beef dishes and share their tricks of the trade with the audience.

At Hereford Prime Headquarters there was action aplenty as people vied to try bite-sized samples of Hereford Prime beef, collect information and claim their voucher for 1kg of free sausages in the Beefy BBQ Bangers giveaway. The Hereford Prime products on display also created great interest, with butcher Ian Parker kept busy answering questions throughout the day.

Hank the Hereford Bull was a hit with the crowd once again. Constant streams of people were lined up to have their photo taken with Hank and more than 500 people tried their luck at guessing his weight during the day. Patrick O’Leary also dazzled us with his whip cracking performance every hour atop Hank.

Hank was the perfect gentleman as he remained unfazed by the whip cracking around his ears, the photos and reporters, constant comments on his weight and children wanting to pat him!

Hank was also a hit with the media and revelled in the spotlight to help gain us excellent media exposure, including coverage on Channel 7 and 9 news, Sunrise (two live crosses on Australia Day) and photos in the Sydney Morning Herald.

We are proud to have continued our sponsorship of the BIG Telly in Hyde Park this Australia Day – furthering our association and support of the Australia Day Council of NSW for the third year running.

A special thank you to the following people in no particular order for their time, effort and patience to make the day a great success – Christine Unicomb and the team from the Australia Day Council of NSW; Hilary, Dot and Patrick O’Leary from Remolea Poll Herefords; and Executive Chefs Uwe Habermehl, Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre; Nathan Lakeman, the Bellevue; Paul Wightwick, Harts Pub; and Riadh Debbabi, Vibe Hotel Rushcutters.
